These talented Idols hailed all the way from the United States of America yet found their fame within the energetic and competitive world of K-pop! As K-pop continues to capture the hearts across continents, the emergence of American artists within this genre unites diverse communities. Let’s take a look at American K-pop Idols and learn about their story!  


10. AleXa

AleXa also known as Alexaundra Christine Schneiderman is an American singer born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, US. She has a Russian American father and a South Korean mother. AleXa dreamt of becoming a star ever since she was a kid, her search for fame in South Korea was pumped by another reason - to help her adopted mother find her birth family. 


Debuted as a K-pop singer in October 2019, AleXa represented her home at Oklahoma through her song “Wonderland” which made her win 710 points at the NBC’s American Song Contest. As a K-pop Idol, AleXa is known to be social and daring who’s clear about her goals of moving forward in the K-pop Industry, carrying her charms and talent. 



9. Huening Bahiyyih - Kep1er

Huening Bahiyyih is one of the members of a growing girl group Kep1er. She was born in South-Korea but has American nationality. She debuted through a survival show called “Girls Planet 999”. Huening Bahiyyih has an older brother Hueningkai who is a member of the South Korean boy group called “TXT”. Both siblings have a South Korean mother and a German father who was born in Brazil. As a K-pop Idol, Bahiyyih is known to be quite passionate when it comes to dancing. She serves the group with brilliant dance moves and has a talent for memorizing moves quickly as well. 


8. Ashley - LADIES’ CODE

Ashley also known as Choi Bitna in Korean is the second vocalist and the leader of the South Korean girl group “LADIES’ CODE” who was originally born in Incheon, South Korea but her family moved to Queens, New York in 2000 when she was just eight years old. However, Ashley moved back to Korea in 2011 to train to become a K-popo Idol. Ashley is known to be a highly extroverted girl who brightens up her surroundings by her energy. She’s the type of person who can take on big responsibilities which justifies her position of leading the LADIES’ CODE group.

7. BM - KARD

BM better known as Big Mathew debuted with a co-ed group KARD in 2016. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. Originally BM wanted to become a counselor but his immaculate rapping and dancing skills pushed him forward to take on the path of becoming a K-pop Idol. When he was in college, he performed in the “World of Dance '' competition in California. Seeing his talent, BM’s mother signed him up to become a K-pop star. But BM was reluctant to go because of his poor Korean but look at him now! He even became a solo artist on June 9, 2021. 

6. Huh YunJin - LE SSERAFIM 

Huh Yun Jin from LE SSERAFIM was born in Gangnam, Seoul but was raised in Niskayuna, New York, United States. Her English name is Jennifer Huh. She pursued her passion for music theater and singing at Niskayuna High School. Huh Yun Jin is definitely one of the born to be stars in the K-pop Industry. From her fashion to her Idol skills, everything is on point. Yun Jin debuted as K-pop Idol with LE SSERAFIM in 2022 with their first song “Fearless” that was a huge success! 

5. Jay - ENHYPEN

Jay from ENHYPEN was born in Seattle, Washington but moved to South Korea when he was just nine years old. Jay trained with Heesung, Sunghoon, and Jungwon under Big Hit Entertainment for two whole years and made his debut for the boy group, ENHYPEN. Currently, Jay serves as the main rapper and dancer and when it comes to his personality, he’s actually smart and keeps the group together. 


4. Jay Park 

Jay Park is known to be an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and entrepreneur based in South Korea. Jay Park is also a member of the Seattle-based b-boy crew Art of Movement. In fact, he has served many other services such as founding hip-hop record labels AOMG and H1ghr music. Known for his charismatic performances and strong presence, Jay Park has been described as a person who was born to entertain others. Jay Park’s K-pop career started in 2009 where he first appeared in Hot Blood Men, a reality program that showed the future members of groups of One Day along with 2AM and 2PM in training. 


3. Tiffany Young - Girls Generation  

Tiffany Young from Girls Generation was born in San Francisco, California, United States. She came to Korea in 2004 and became an essential part of the South Korean girl group Girls Generation that won the hearts of global fans and is still fresh even in 2023! 

Tiffany also worked on her solo career and debuted with her song “I Just Wanna Dance” on May 11, 2016 which gave an initial push to her solo career. Then, later on, she came up with other creative songs like Magnetic Moon, and Born Again. 


2. Eric Nam

Eric Nam, a famous solo artist from South Korea was born in Atlanta, Georgia who graduated from Boston College in 2011 with a major in International Studies. Eric Nam made his entry into the enticing world of K-pop in 2012 where he was discovered on YouTube and even got the chance to go to Korea and join a reality program called “Star Audition: Birth of A Great Star”. He made his official debut as a solo artist with his five-track album called Cloud. 


1. Joshua - SEVENTEEN

Joshua from the popular boy group “SEVENTEEN” was born in Los Angeles, California, United States. He’s definitely one of the youngest and talented K-pop Idols who was born in America. He serves as a lead vocalist who’s also known for his confidence, intelligence, and initiatives.
